Declining revenue.  Bloated salaries.  Abysmal ratings.  Do the math.

Speaking of math... all these guys are signed into contracts (Adam, Lycos, FHF etc) if they flip and drop the talk format, they still have to pay out the end of the contract right? In that case why would it make sense monetarily to flip in the middle of the year?

Unless they assume revenues after the flip will exceed the literally millions they have to pay out for the contracts, it would not make business sense to do so now.

I suppose there could be a clause in the contract that lets CBS terminate at any time, but that's not much of a contract.

Most untimely ad I've heard on the stream?

CSB School of Broadcasting ad for a job fair this week - with JACK SILVER!

Sometimes knowing what not to do is just as valuable as knowing what to do.

And, yes, this board will ALWAYS be here - regardless of what Adam is up to (radio/TV/movies/spanking it), we'll be here commenting.

This is where I feel I never got the memo that the rest of the board received. I still love the show and listen to the podcasts each day. I have no problem with Teresa and I think that Adam has one of the quickest minds among all entertainers.

I do think that they could have used an extra voice in the show to give it a little variety and to make things go in an unexpected fashion. And god knows, they could bring in someone who might laugh out loud to Adam's jokes.

But if the demise of the show is really happening, I'm going to miss it very much.

You n' me, brother (sister?). My enjoyment of the show waxes and wanes by the day, not the year, as with 1780's. It may also be because I listen less regularly, but in longer chunks, and podcasting helps in that I can forward past a part I'm not interested in. But I'm laughing as hard as I ever have. Maybe it's not the brainless slapstick of Teresa tearfully pushing Brusqa, or the never-gets-old Fat Tad stuff of '06, but I've thoroughly enjoyed the post-Bonaduce era.

Did someone have definitive confirmation that the show will be axed in connection with a format change? If so, the ACS will be remembered as the radio version of Arrested Development: critically acclaimed, hilarious and beloved by those who tuned in, and will probably be appreciated posthumously.

Man I'd like to eat a bullet, no daily new material from adam, shit I could barely make it though the 60+ days between his last LL and the first ACS.

I'd like to restate my idea on what Adam could do if this is all true.

QUOTE
if Adam was to do his own thing, he could pop a little studio in his house and with 22k daily streaming audience members and about what 3-10x times that in podcast audience and another 100k-3million radio listeners per market, it would be easy to get 30k-500k subscribers to a rule/restriction free show Adam wouldn't have to leave his house to do and could record at his leisure and just invite his friends and regular guests over, it would be just as good a show if not better and Adam could control every facet i.e. 2hr-4hr shows based off his whim.

If he charged 4.99 a month he would make at least what he makes now if not much more and there would be very little piracy just as there was very little with the Hammer, hell he could charge 1.99 a month and if 50k people subscribed it would be 100k a month if it was 500k subscribers it would be 1mil a month and at that price it wouldn't be worth the effort to pirate.

I hope the ACS goes on for ever but if anything dire ever does happen I hope Adam knows he could begin podcasting from his home almost instantly and make a fortune doing it, hell we wouldn't let anyone pirate the show if it was for sale unlike what happens to some other broadcasters.

What prompted me to start this thread is the imminent demise of KLSX, and Adam's show.

Aside from GoF's posts do you have any other sources?

1780's Guy- 02-17-2009
Yes. Several. All prior to any other rumors being posted, which is bizarre. Surprised that none of the pay-to-read-radio-gossip sites didn't "get" this sooner.

DEATH TO THE SHOW! PRAISE TO BUCKETHEAD! THE SHREW WILL BE ERADICATED AND BANISHED BACK TO HELL! I'M A BUCKETHEAD WARRIOR FIGHTING AGAINST THE EVIL! THE GOOD WILL RISE ONCE AGAIN AND THE PEOPLE CAN BREATHE!

This is bullshit, I have no idea what I'm going to do, I'm seriously fucked, I can't live off Adam movies, Sitcom's and interviews alone, I need daily improv from Adam on any random subject for at least 90min but preferably 2hrs+, it just makes daily life better sad.gif.

Man, I'm freaking out, pray to the great magnet this shit ain't true

Edit: and shut the F up PO, this shit is serious everyone gets it you don't like T, ENOUGH!
THIS IS GODDAMN SERIOUS AND NOBODY WANTS TO READ YOU NONSENSE RIGHT NOW.

thoreau- 02-17-2009
Thanks Giovanni. My feelings exactly. The podcasts (I live in SF) are what get me through the long drives and just drudge work around the house. I don't know if I can listen if they are winding down.

Although I'm interested in Adam's reaction. Though I think he is brilliant--he isn't very interested in taking blame for things when they go downhill.

Glaeken- 02-17-2009
I guess I fall in the middle. I don't listen to Adam religiously anymore, but I wouldn't want his show to end entirely. If it does end, I won't be bothered by it. TACS is no longer something to show off, not like the LL days.

This is serious, SERIOUSLY GOOD

My dream, realized, no more Teresa gumming up the work of Adam's rants to put in her own shitty PC POV. Teresa less Adam, coming soon to a theater near you! *does happy dance*

Man the thoughts have been rushing through my head since I first heard these rumblings now with this thread it "feels" more like it's really happening, what a shame.. sad.gif

Only one Bad Religion appearance, only one John Hiatt, only one Will Arnett and none of them got more than 2 segments in 3yrs, what an oversight, and no Clive Barker at all sad.gif

At least you diehard's got your Mike Rowe booking in before it was too late.

Man I have heard all the LL's a dozen/couple dozen times, I still listen daily and I have time to hear the ACS twice a day too, and I relisten on the weekends, man I'm fucked, just fucked.
I have had daily Adam commentary for 13yrs, the guy has shaped my life and is responsible for the greatest comedy I know.

raunch hand- 02-17-2009
Sorry, I just read GoF's latest link and that's pretty damn definitive.

The question is will it be Jack FM or KLSX? And if it is KLSX will they keep Adam in the AM and go to music the rest of the day?

Or will they hand off the morning shift to FHF? That seems likely to me I'm sad to say. FHF is a more traditional morning zoo type of show which is what brings in the highest ratings.
