Rules of the Board
1) REGISTER, it's an automated process that takes a few minutes. You'll need a valid email address as there will be a validation email sent that you'll need to retrieve prior to being granted the ability to post. As a favor to your fellow Carolla fans, we ask that you limit the length of your username, please keep it somewhere south of 15 characters (having a long name throws off the forum alignment when you post), thanks.
2) READ a little bit of the forum before you jump in and add to the discussion. Get a feeling for how things are discussed here. Please note that the board is sectioned off into different talking-point areas, keep this in mind as you start posting...PLEASE.
3) SEARCH before you post. There may already be a thread that is discussing whatever it is you want to address, post there rather than creating a duplicate thread. Also, most of the time if you're looking for an answer to a simple question, the SEARCH feature will get you there a lot quicker than composing a new thread. If you do start a new topic, PLEASE be sure to give a good title AND description to it...also, utilize your first post to clearly explain what it is you are talking about/referring to in your new thread.
4) THINK about your post before hitting Add Reply/New Topic. Too many threads get clogged with spur-of-the-moment type posts, take a beat or two and try to streamline your thoughts and contain them to one post. If replying to three different posts, it is possible to address all three in one post...no need to keep going back and replying.
5) REPORT a post/thread when necessary, just be careful that you are not hitting the REPORT button when you actually mean to hit QUOTE/REPLY. Again, take a moment and be sure you are clicking on the appropriate button before you actually click!
6) BE COOL, no need to be a bully or a jerk to people. This is a messageboard, opinions are going to vary...no matter how justified you feel, avoid pissing matches...please. Also, when getting into heated debates about ANYTHING - please try to be an adult and don't resort to grade school name calling/bringing someone's family into it/just being a douche, in general.
7) CHECK your post history if you are looking for something you posted and it either got buried or was moved since your original post. Most of the time you'll find it was not started in the proper area and moved/merged somewhere else.
8) AVOID tangents. That is, chit-chat about something else amusing/enteraining in a given thread is ok ... but please refrain from replying to comments made that have nothing to do with the original poster's topic.
9) UTILIZE the PM/email system on this board. Private Messages are an excellent way to have off-topic discussions and avoid spinning a thread in a completely different direction than where it started. If you're having issues with another member, or even mod/admin, creating a new thread in a forum is not a great way to resolve it ... use your PM/email.
10) NO ADVERTISING, NO SPAMMING the forum. Whether your grandfather in Nigeria just died and you need help getting his inheritance OR you're here just to plug your crappy site - directly OR indirectly - don't do it. If you want to actually contribute to the discussion here and have your own website you'd like to share with folks, put it in your signature. Either way, anything remotely resembling spamming will be sent to the cornfield and you will be banned.
11) USE COMMON SENSE, here and in your personal life. Whether it's putting an obnoxiously sized picture in your signature, or constantly replying to posts with one or two word answers, STOP IT. If you do not possess said common sense (or just choose to ignore it in favor of being an ass), don't be surprised if your nonsense goes missing.
12) FOLLOW THE TOS OF FORUMER.COM, it's pretty simple. The site that hosts this forum has their own Terms Of Service - their TOS is our/your TOS. You can read it here: http://www.forumer.com/terms.php . If you don't like it, then leave.
13) ENJOY yourself. While the purpose of this place is talk about Adam and his various endeavors -- it truly is a community where you can talk about anything, and actually "meet" some interesting folks!
