QUOTE (heap of tears @ October 23, 2009 02:36 pm)
Oh, and that is not played.

is it me, but is seems' parks' cant even decide if they are going docu style or multi camera. Still funny, but I am getting very tired of the documentary style sitcom.

Oh look at you... HA HA HA you can stare at the camera!! enough already.

to be fair, Community is single camera but not documentary style. The Office and Parks are though, but its only natural since Parks and Recreation was originally going to be a spinoff of the Office.

i cant stand multicamera/studio audience sitcoms but ill give adam's my full support

QUOTE (ebolarama @ November 03, 2009 12:30 pm)
All I know is that the only thing the comedies I watch (Curb, The Office, Family Guy, Community, Modern Family) have in common is that they're not a traditional, multi-camera sitcom.

I think in a few years there will be room for a really innovative traditional sitcom that deconstructs the genre, but it doesn't sound like that's what Ace is going for. The best we can hope for is a commercial success... I just don't think a traditional sitcom has anything to offer comedically.

The things those shows have in common that I really like is NO lafftrax. (Maybe Mod. Family does but I haven't watched yet). Arrested Development too.

Agree with everyone about laugh tracks, the only show with them that I watch is Big Bang Theory, and that's a borderline show for me. Multicamera doesn't bother me as much--guess the two go together though.

If Carolla's show makes it to air I'll definitely give it a shot--I think he'll be able to put a different spin on traditional-style comedies. It being on NBC is better too--they're desperate at the moment, and have some innovative comedies. The ones on CBS are pretty formulaic.
